Parks & Recreation

The Lakeland Parks & Recreation Department plans a range of programming from children’s activities such as Easter Egg Hunts to programs at the Lakeland Senior Center. Lakeland’s natural terrain fosters a sense of country living unlike any other in Shelby County. Lakes, ponds and streams as well as parks with playgrounds, soccer fields and tennis courts enhance residents’ quality of life. Our K-8 education system is one of the highest performing in Tennessee and includes Lakeland Elementary (K-4) and Lakeland Middle Prep (5-8). The City of Lakeland serves more than 2,200 school-age students.

Arlington features more than 65 acres of parks and sports field, maintained by The Town of Arlington Parks and Recreation Department. Additionally, the Depot Square Community Garden was created to provide a unique opportunity to citizens of all ages to grow healthy food options. Arlington Community Schools offer a comprehensive curriculum for elementary, middle and high school students. The district has been named one of 2020’s Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation.
