Southaven is known for local talent, welcoming community and land ripe for business and families. Southaven also has an active senior services program with 2,600 members. The West End District is the gateway to Southaven and Mississippi. The West End is considered the "Original Southaven" and includes the original business district. It remains vital to the overall success of the City and, thus, economic incentives are in place to encourage new business in the area. The Snowden District or "Getwell Corridor" delivers entertainment value with the BankPlus Amphitheater, Snowden Grove, restaurants and businesses. The Southaven Chamber of Commerce is an active group of professionals, dedicated to increasing the visibility of local businesses and attracting new businesses to the area. In fact, Google announced it will be opening its first U.S. Google Operations Center in Southaven and expects to be operational in summer 2021. Southaven has a 9-hole golf course, an 18-hole disc golf course and 20 neighborhood parks with more than 200 acres of parkland. Southaven is proud to be home to the Snowden Grove Baseball Complex. Southaven Schools are part of the DeSoto County Schools system, which is Mississippi's largest and fastest growing school district. Mississippi's Literacy-Based Promotion Act focuses on building literacy skills among all students and has helped improve reading scores at a faster rate than all other states.
